In 2019, the third annual U.S. J/70 Youth Championship will again be hosted by St. Petersburg Yacht Club in Florida from November 21-24. The goal of this event is to help develop and build leading-edge junior keelboat sailing programs across America. The U.S. J/70 Youth Championship is open to 10 youth teams representing US Sailing-recognized Sailing Clubs or Organizations.

The 10 youth teams will compete on 10 provided J/70 Class sailboats with class sails (main, jib, spinnaker). The boats will be identically rigged and tuned at “base settings” that are recommended by the sailmaker.

For 2019, each youth team must submit a CV of their sailing/racing experience to the US J/70 Class Association. The CVs for each team must include all team members. The J/70 Class Youth Committee will select up to 10 teams and notify them by September 1.
Interested youth teams may apply at https://forms.gle/vbAR8RFip2g9oKxM8 by August 15.

The Championship is run under J/70 Class Rules, as published by the International J/70 Class Association at http://j70ica.org/class-office-rules/. Each youth team is permitted up to five crew, and all crew must be age 20 or younger as of December 31, 2019.
