The Santa Barbara Yacht Club hosted its annual Fiesta Cup Regatta for one-design fleets including J/70s. In the two-day regatta, the SBYC PRO managed to run four races in the challenging, kelp-laden conditions often seen on the scenic Pacific Ocean waterfront in front of the club. Trading off firsts and seconds all weekend in the J/70 fleet were the Janov family on MINOR THREAT and Pat Toole’s 3 BIG DOGS crew. In the end, Jeff Janov led family members Jay, Ryan, Grant and Jordan, plus a local World Champion sailor (David Ullman), to a trio of bullets and a second to win with 5 points. Two points back was Toole (with team George Witter, Dale Turley and Chris Weiss) with a tally of three deuces and a bullet for 7 points.
