Living up to its reputation as one of the most fun and beautiful regattas of the Great Lakes summer sailing season, the Little Traverse Yacht Club was blessed with good weather and great sailing for their annual Ugotta Regatta. Sailing took place from July 30-August 1. The 14-boat J/70 fleet sailed eight races over the three days. Bob Hughes’ HEARTBREAKER won by sailing a very consistent series with seven finishes in the top four, for a total of 26 points. Scott Sellers racing TRES BURRITOS with a mostly family crew squeaked out the silver position at 31.5 points. Just a half-point back was Bob Willis’s RIP RULLAH winning the bronze in the open class and winning the Corinthian Division. Rounding out the top five were Sean O’Brien’s McFLY in fourth and Mike Duff’s MEASURE TWICE in fifth position. In the Corinthian Division behind RIP RULLAH was Dave Dennison’s PIRANHA in second and Mark Allen’s HELIUM in third.
