More than 100 boats from 26 nations have descended upon the racing mecca of Cascais Portugal for the 2026 J/70 World Championship. After two races on the opening day, Haroldo Solberg’s Brazilian team is leading the overall standings with 10 points. Spain’s Luis Bugallo sits in second place, with American James Murray completing the provisional top three.
Vasco Passanha of host Clube Naval de Cascais got off to a flying start, claiming victory in the opening race. Murray crossed the line in second place, while Luis Albert of Spain completed the top trio. In the second race of the day, Solberg topped the fleet, ahead of Nuno Espírito Santo of Portugal and Brian Keane of the USA.
The J/70 World Championship continues on Wednesday with two more races scheduled in Cascais, with the Champion to be crowned on Saturday.
