The Annapolis Yacht Club Fall Series took place over two weekends from September 30-October 1 and October 7-8. The first weekend was affected by the remnants of Hurricane Ophelia and was canceled. Then, the second weekend also started a bit wet, but concluded with good sailing conditions, enabling the Annapolis YC RC team to run a total of five races off the opening of the Severn River on the Chesapeake Bay. Winning the J/70 fleet was Paul Green’s PROGRESS with a consistent record of 1-1-2-1-3 for 8 points total. The balance of the podium was a three-way battle between James Gary’s AYACUCHO, Henry Filter’s WILD CHILD and Randy Gould’s VOODEUX. In the end, Gary’s AYACUCHO prevailed with a 4-6-1-3-2 tally for 16 points to take the silver. The bronze medal was determined by a tiebreaker just two points back, with both teams scoring 19 points. That duel was determined by the last race, with Filter’s WILD CHILD posting a 3-7-4-4-1 to win the countback over Gould’s VOODEUX who scored 2-3-3-7-4.
