Thanks to the Capital Gazette for this report: Eastport Yacht Club hosted its annual Fall Brawl. Cate Muller-Terhune started the regatta with back-to-back bullets and tacked on a third and fourth to capture the J/70 fleet, which attracted 17 boats for its Mid-Atlantic Championship. Allan Terhune trimmed the main and called tactics for his wife, who won the lone race held Saturday by playing the middle of the course as the seabreeze battled an easterly. Mike Coe trimmed the headsails and Jenn Wulff worked the bow. Muller-Terhune sailed Murder Hornet to victory in the opening race on Sunday as a cold and gusty southerly prompted the EYC race committee to set a course at the mouth of the Severn River. Muller-Terhune and team tacked on a third and fourth Sunday, good enough to hold off Minnesota resident Joel Ronning and his crew on Catapult. “Certainly, the key was having the boat set up and going fast. Our trim was spot on, which was critical in the ever-changing conditions, and with such a great team, it was easy to shift gears and go fast,” Muller- Terhune said.
