The end-of-summer Verve Cup Inshore off the Chicago lakefront took place in late August on Lake Michigan, hosted by the Chicago Yacht Club’s Belmont Station. With gorgeous weather, the fleet of 14 J/70s enjoyed great racing and a total of seven races on the choppy waters of Lake Michigan. Bruno Pasquinelli’s STAMPEDE team from Fort Worth Boat Club posted four bullets for a total of just 12 points to top the fleet. The balance of the podium included the Canadian team on Kelly Hansen’s 7TH HEAVEN, winning three races on their way to garnering the silver position with 14 points. The bronze spot was taken by Laura & Leif Sigmund’s NORBOY from the host Chicago YC with a total of 19 points. Taking fourth on countback was Jorgen Johnsson’s AQUAHOLIKS, with Doug Fritz’s LIL BIT team from Sheridan Shore Yacht Club in Wilmette, IL settling for fifth place.
